Thank you so much for this video, pets!
It's a beautiful video that points out what really helps to make the great, golden oldie-but-keeper of a classic movie-musical, West Side Story, what it is--a powerfully dynamic little package that combines an unusual musical score, a great story, beautifully-choreographed dancing by the late Jerome Robbins, seamlessly combined on-location and sound-stage scenery, and the fabulous cinematography by the late Daniel Fapp that employs the use of passionate colors such as reds, purples and blues very skillfully.

I realize that the person who narrated this video was pointing out the gist and purposes of the music, but I'm also inclined to think that the music made it seem like the cops were on the Jets' side, but they forgot to admit that when the Jets refused to disclose the whereabouts of their upcoming Rumble with the Sharks, and Lt. Schrank angrily insulted the Jets for their familial and ethnic backgrounds (i. e. "You and that tin-horn immigrant scum ya come from! How's your old man's D. T's, A-Rab? How's the action on your mother's side of the street, Action?"), slammed out of the Candy Store (after having banished the Sharks out of there), sort of shouting "I'll find out where you're gonna rumble! But be sure to finish each other off before I get there! 'Cause if ya don't, I will!", that whole scene was a perfect indication that Lt. Schrank hated the white European Ethnic-American Jets just a tad or two less than he hated the newly-arrived Puerto Rican Sharks. It's interesting that the creator of this video omitted that whole scene, because it points out that people often reveal their true attitudes when they're angry and out of control.

I realize that this video was namely about the music to West Side Story, and what makes this musical score so brilliant, fascinating and fantastic, as well as being powerful, but I think that the above-mentioned scene should've been mentioned, as well.

This video is interesting, because it clearly describes what the music indicates;
the various emotions of the very story behind "West Side Story".
