ABC Family's Paranormal Drama 'Stitchers' Casts Its Leads (Exclusive)

by Lesley Goldberg

ABC Family Adds Paranormal Drama Pilot 'Stitchers'

Newcomers Emma Ishta and Kyle Harris have been tapped to star in the paranormal drama from Overruled's Jeffrey A. Schechter.
...

Stitchers centers on a young woman recruited into a covert government agency to be "stitched" into the minds of the recently deceased, using their memories to investigate murders and decipher mysteries that otherwise would have gone to the grave.

Ishta (Black Box, Power) will play Kristen Clark, the smart, socially awkward girl with a rare condition, which makes her unable to feel emotions or correctly gauge the passage of time. She's a computer whiz with hacking skills, a Mozart on her computer keyboard and in the process of getting an advanced degree in computer science until she gets into trouble for publicly revealing her roommate's affair with their professor. Because of her unique talents, Kirsten is chosen for a secret government program, which, in her words, "hacks into the brains of corpses to read their memories," and to her surprise (and that of her handlers), she takes to the scary, unpredictable job with ease.

Harris (The Carrie Dairies) will portray Cameron, the chief tech/handler at the secret government agency. The head of the program is his mother, Maggie, with whom he also lives. Cameron cares about the program and the operatives and is good at what he does, but he's thrown a bit off balance by his mother's choice of computer hacker Kirsten as their new operative. Passionate and knowledgeable about his work, Cameron is wary but game when Kirsten decides to go beyond the mandate of the program in order to save some lives.

Schechter will executive produce the drama alongside Jonathan Baruch and Rob Wolken. Production will begin production in June. Ishta is with Innovative; Harris is repped by APA and Regarding Entertainment.

ABC Family picked up Stitchers to pilot in April, less than a week after scrapping Alice in Arabia. Stitchers is one of three shows in the works at ABC Family. It joins Recovery Road, Unstrung and comedy Work Mom, which was rolled from last year.

CW's 'Flash' Teaser Trailer Debuts (Video)

by Philiana Ng

The first official teaser for the anticipated spinoff debuts during the season finale of "Arrow."

The first teaser for The CW's The Flash is here.

Debuting during the latter half of Arrow's season-two finale, the promo was the first time viewers got to see Barry Allen (Glee's Grant Gustin) after he fell into a coma at the end of a two-episode appearance in November.

Barry was struck by lightning at the end of his Arrow arc, teeing up his eventual transition into the superhero known as The Flash. Though he has not appeared in any other Arrow episodes, he has been mentioned along with other members of S.T.A.R. Labs: bioengineering expert Caitlin, played by Danielle Panabaker, and mechanical engineering genius Cisco, played by Carlos Valdes, appeared in episode 19.

And in case you missed it, here is what The CW and studio Warner Bros. TV have previously released: The Flash's full costume and the first profile shot back in February.

The Flash is just one of two DC Comics-based series joining The CW slate for the 2014-15 season, the other being iZombie. The network unveils its fall schedule Thursday morning to ad buyers in New York.

Joining Gustin, Panabaker and Valdes in the main cast are John Wesley Shipp (aka the original Barry Allen from the '90s series); Tom Cavanagh as physics "rock star" Harrison Wells; Jesse L. Martin as Detective West; Candice Patton as West's daughter and Barry's love interest, Iris; and Rick Cosnett as Detective Eddie Thawne.

Arrow's Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg and director David Nutter are executive producers on the spinoff. Berlanti, Kreisberg and DC Entertainment's Geoff Johns wrote the pilot, with Nutter directing. Melissa Kellner Berman serves as co-executive producer.
